Rabat – Brahim Diaz, the Spanish-Moroccan midfielder from Real Madrid, expressed his immense honor on Monday as he arrived in Salé, affirming his pride in donning the jersey of the Moroccan national football team, the Atlas Lions.

“Dressing in the Moroccan team’s colors is a tremendous honor. I am proud to be among the talented players chosen by the national selector Walid Regragui,” Diaz said as  we arrived at Rabat-Salé Airport to join the team’s training camp for their upcoming friendly matches against Angola and Mauritania.

Reflecting on the warmth of the welcome, the 24-year-old player expressed gratitude, stating, “I have felt a lot of affection and sincere feelings,” while emphasizing his commitment to bringing joy to Moroccan fans through his efforts on the field.

Acknowledging the support from Morocco’s King Mohammed VI for sports, particularly football, Diaz extended his appreciation, expressing his ambition to deliver outstanding performances with the Atlas Lions in the upcoming events.

The national selector, Walid Regragui, has summoned a squad of 24 players for the preparation of the two friendly matches at the Grand Stade d’Agadir.

The matches are scheduled against the Angolan team on March 22 and the Mauritanian team four days later.

Diaz’s inclusion in the squad marks the end of months of speculation surrounding his decision to represent Morocco over Spain. Reports had suggested Diaz’s inclination towards Morocco, with support from his family, particularly his grandmother.
