Morocco’s head coach Walid Regragui has unveiled his starting XI for the game against Tanzania as part of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) group stage.

The starting lineup includes the names of superstars, who contributed to Morocco’s historic performances during the 2022 World Cup, including Yassine Bounou, Achraf Hakimi, and Hakim Ziyech.

Morocco’s group stage first game will also include key players like Sofyan Amrabat, Nayef Aguerd, Romain Saiss, and Selim Amallah.

Key players like Azzedine Ounahi, Abdel Ezzalzouzouli Youssef En-Nsseyri, and Mohamed Chibi will be part of the lineup

Morocco’s national team is facing real pressure as fans across the world are anticipating the Atlas Lions to open the match with a victory and three points against Tanzania.

Coach Regragui, however, acknowledged the challenges awaiting his team, stressing that no match is easy during AFCON.

During a pre-match conference on Tuesday, Regragui said, “Since the start of the competition, there haven’t been any easy matches. Our first match is important for us to enter the competitive atmosphere.”

He added the Atlas Lions’ goal is to win to boost the players’ confidence, notingthat his team has been preparing well for the overall competition and game against Tanzania for a long time.

Regragui’s advice to his squad is also to forget the achievements they made during the World Cup and rather focus on their tough mission during AFCON.

Morocco performed spectacularly during the 2022 World Cup, where it finished as a semi-finalist. The team was the first Arab and African squad to reach this stage in World Cup history.
