New York – Israeli police seized a video where a group of Jewish extremists are seen celebrating the death of Palestinian baby Ali Dawabsheh, during a wedding reception in Israel.
The shocking footage, which was broadcast by Israeli Channel 10 on Wednesday and later posted by Haaretz news website on Thursday, shows a crowd of young Orthodox Jews dancing to loud music at a wedding party holding guns, knives and Molotov cocktails.
The video zooms in on several stabbed photos of Palestinian baby Dawabsheh, who was burned alive last July when Jewish terrorists, allegedly from the Lehava group, firebombed the 18-month-old’s home, causing the death of three people.
Some are wearing shirts with the Kach symbol of a far-right organization, which pledges allegiance to racist Rabbi Meir Kahane.
Others are seen wearing the slogan “Mehir Tag” (“price to pay”), commonly found on Palestinian homes and Christian institutions vandalized by radical Jews.
According Channel 10 news report, the wedding was of a couple “very well known in the radical right,” and the people at the reception were alleged friends of the Dawabsheh murderers.
Several Israeli leaders have strongly denounced the video, the same source reported.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the “shocking images” and said that they show “the real face of a group that poses danger to Israeli society and security.”
“The Judaism of those who dance on the blood of babies is not my Judaism,” Tzipi Livni, Chair of Foreign Affairs and Defense Subcommittee on International Law, said.
“This is a group that wants to destroy Jewish Israel, to destroy this country from within, to turn it into a state of hatred and to destroy the regime from within,” she added.
After the video was confiscated, it was given to Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon, who reportedly showed it to Jewish council heads who also condemned the acts.
Avi Ro’eh, chairman of the Council of Jewish Communities of Judea and Samaria, made a statement during the Wednesday broadcast supporting the police’s efforts in apprehending the offenders.
Zionist Union leader Isaac Herzog posted on Twitter: “You miserable people, you’ve forgotten what it is to be Jews. You disgrace your skullcap, your prayer shawl and the name of God. Whoever dances at a wedding and celebrates the murder of a sleeping baby is not Jewish and not Israeli.”
“He should be put behind bars as quickly as possible”, he added.
“Acts like these are not the way of Judaism. This is a rejection and repudiation of the values of the Jewish people, of the Torah of Israel and the uniqueness of the Jewish people,” Chief Rabbi David Lau said in a statement.
“Parents and educators must take it upon themselves, along with law enforcement, to do everything possible to prevent this appalling identification with such frightful acts of terrorism and murder,” he concluded.
