Rabat – Israeli aggression continues to claim the lives of many, including journalists and their family members in Gaza.
Al Jazeera highlighted that its correspondent Momin Alsharfi lost 21 members of his family during an Israeli air raid today in Gaza.
Alsharfi’s parents were among the murdered victims, in addition to his siblings and their spouses, as well as their nephews and nieces, according to Al Jazeera.
The correspondent spoke to Al Jazeera about the heinous raid, saying that an “explosive barrel hit” their home causing a deep crater in the ground.
“None of the civil defense crews were able to reach their bodies.. We are prevented from saying goodbye to our loved ones and are deprived of giving them a proper burial,” he lamented.
The correspondent also spoke to Al Jazeera about a heartwarming message he received from his mother before she was murdered during the Israeli attack.
“Good morning Momin. How are you? I hope you are well. How are your wife and children? How is your health? Take care of yourself, son,”Al Jazeera quoted Al Sharfi’s mother’s voice note as saying.
This is not the first time Israel targeted journalists and their families during the bloody war in Gaza.
On October 25, Israel murdered several family members of Al Jazeera correspondent Wale Dahdouh.
The news outlet said that Mohammed Abu Al Qumsan, a broadcast engineer at Al Jazeera’s Gaza bureau, also lost 19 family members, including his father and two sisters.
Israeli occupation forces have murdered more than 16,248 Palestinians since October 7.
Despite some international uproar, the occupation forces continue to refuse to comply with international law and refuse to engage in a complete ceasefire.
UN chief Antonio Guterres warned the UN Security Council today of the deterioration of the situation in Gaza.
“The situation is fast deteriorating into a catastrophe with potentially irreversible implications for Palestinians as a whole and for peace and security in the region,” he wrote in a letter.
