The Israeli military announced on Friday that it had killed three Israeli hostages by mistake during ground operations in Northern Gaza, who were named as Yotam Haim, Samer Talalka, and Alon Shamriz.
The death of the hostages, who were mis-identified as a “threat” has provoked hundreds to protest in Tel Aviv.
Protestors gathered at Israel’s ministry of defense, calling on the government for negotiations to release the remaining hostages held in Gaza.
Israel believes that more than 100 hostages remain held by Hamas in Gaza.
“The Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Together with the entire people of Israel, I bow my head in deep sorrow and mourn the fall of three of our dear sons who were kidnapped.”
White House spokesperson John Kirby said the killings were a “tragic mistake.”
