Rabat – Gianni Infantino, President of the International Football Federation (FIFA), expressed gratitude to Morocco for hosting the next five editions of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.

Notably, FIFA has awarded Morocco the rights to host the tournament from 2025 to 2029.

His remarks came during the opening of the 46th General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) today in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Infantino noted Morocco’s pivotal role in advancing women’s football on the continent, stating, “I thank Morocco for hosting the next five editions of this women’s competition.”

He acknowledged that hosting such a prestigious tournament is not only a testament to Morocco’s commitment to promoting women’s sports but also an opportunity to inspire young female athletes across Africa.

The FIFA president also pointed to the progress being made in youth football across Africa and the urgent need to invest in young talent, underlining the importance of creating opportunities to further develop the sport on the continent.

Infantino congratulated Morocco for co-hosting the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal, stating, “The 2030 World Cup will return to African soil in 2030.”

To prepare for the Wold Cup and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Morocco is undertaking extensive upgrades to its sports infrastructure. These projects include renovating stadiums in Marrakech, Agadir, Fez, Rabat, Casablanca, and Tangier, along with constructing a new 115,000-seat stadium in Benslimane.

Also on the horizon, FIFA has announced that the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be held in Morocco from October 17 to November 8, 2025.

Featuring 24 teams, the tournament will now take place annually, providing young female footballers with increased opportunities to showcase their talents on the international stage.
