Rabat – World leaders and officials have extended condolences to Azerbaijan after an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane crashed near the Kazakhstan city of Aktau.
Reports said that at least 38 people died after the crash. The plane, which was carrying 62 passengers and five crew members, crashed today after it was forced to make an emergency landing three kilometers from Aktau.
The airline was heading to the Russian city of Grozny in the North Caucasus from Baku. Thirty-two of the people on board survived the crash.
“We cannot disclose any investigation results at this time. All possible scenarios are being examined, and the necessary expert analyses are underway,” the prosecutor general’s office said in a statement.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended the country’s condolences and sympathies to the government and people of Azerbaijan.
It also wished a swift recovery for those injured.
UAE and Bahrain also extended their condolences to the country.
The UAE’s Foreign Ministry offered its condolences and sympathy and wished a speedy recovery for all the injured.
Bahrain echoed the same sentiment extending its recovery wishes to victims.
“Egypt has also extended its wishes for a swift recovery for all those injured in the incident. The statement reaffirms Egypt’s solidarity with Azerbaijan during this difficult time,” Egypt’s news agency said.
World leaders like Russia’s Vladimir Putinm Turkey’ Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, among many others have conveyed their condolences to Azerbaijan over the plane crash.
