France and Morocco continue to showcase their determination to boost bilateral ties through frequent visit exchanges.
A delegation of French Senators will arrive today in the southern Moroccan city of Dakhla for a five-day visit to the North African kingdom.
The French Embassy in Rabat confirmed the news to Morocco World News (MWN), with reports suggesting that the visit was requested and organized by the Morocco-France Friendship Group at the House of Councillors, the upper chamber of the Moroccan parliament.
The delegation’s work agenda will include a tour of the main infrastructures in the city, including the mega Dakhla Atlantic port.
During the tour, the delegation is expected to hold discussions with local authorities and explore economic investments in the region.
The delegation will also visit Rabat to meet with senior officials, including from the House of Councilors.
The visit comes as Morocco and France frequently continued to pledge unwavering commitment to their mutual interest in strengthening bilateral ties at all levels.
In comments at the French Ambassadors’ Annual Conference on Monday, President Emmanuel Macron reiterated his country’s determination to deepen its evolving partnership with Morocco.
Recalling his historic October 2024 State visit to Morocco, Macron said one of the key highlights of French-Moroccan ties in recent months is “what we succeeded in building with His Majesty King Mohammed VI during the state visit.”
The two countries built a “completely new partnership for the decades to come,” he argued.
Macron’s historic visit took place after France decided to recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces in Western Sahara in late July 2024.
During his visit, Macron renewed France’s support for Morocco’s territorial integrity in a speech at the Moroccan Parliament.
“This is the position that France will implement to support Morocco in international forums,” Macron said.
