Rabat — Paris Saint Germain (PSG) is expected to officially announce the renewal of Achraf Hakimi’s contract until June 2029.
Hakimi’s contract is set to expire in June 2026, but his club is set to announce his contract extension– which comes with a “significant increase in his salary,” Mundo Deportivo reported today.
“Until now, the Moroccan international has been earning around 10 million euros net per season, which will rise to nearly 14 million euros net,” the news outlet said, noting that this will position the Atlas Lion as the highest-paid right-back in the world.
In addition to his strategic role for PSG, the news outlet also recalled his contributions to Morocco’s national squad.
“The Moroccan captain is a reference across the entire Arab world,” Mundo Deportivo said, noting that he played 17 league matches with PSG, scoring two goals during the season.
“He has also competed in all six matches in the new Champions League, where he has scored another goal,” the news outlet added.
Hakimi maintains a positive representation among Morocco’s coach Walid Regragui and PSG manager Luis Enrique.
In October of last year, Enrique commended Hakimi’s play, saying the footballer is becoming “more well-rounded, especially on the defensive side.”
“Hakimi is an elite player with vast experience and serves as a reference for his teammates,” the coach said.
In November of the same year, sports journalist Fabrizio Romano said PSG had already extended his contract with PSG.
It remains to be seen whether the French club will officialize the deal with a final announcement in the coming weeks or months.
