Rabat – Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has launched a direct flight route linking Casablanca and Beijing, marking a key step in expanding its global reach.

RAM’s first direct flight between Casablanca and Beijing took off from Mohammed V Airport at 4:20 p.m. on Monday, marking the revival of a route first introduced in January 2020 but suspended weeks later due to the COVID-19 crisis.

The airline announced the decision to resume this service in August 2024, with plans to reestablish strong air links between Morocco and China.

RAM CEO Hamid Addou previously expressed satisfaction with the route’s relaunch, underlining its importance for Moroccan tourism.

“The Casablanca-Beijing route is primarily dedicated to the development of Moroccan tourism, as 80% of the traffic on this route is expected to consist of foreign tourists,” he explained.

Calling it a “long-awaited route,” Addou also pointed to its potential to bolster economic and commercial ties between the two countries.

This route offers three weekly flights on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, featuring 302 seats, including 26 in Business Class.

Flights depart from Casablanca on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 4:20 p.m., arriving in Beijing the next day at 11:55 a.m.

For return journeys, departures from Beijing are scheduled for Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 1:55 p.m., with landings in Casablanca at 8:10 p.m.

The launch of this direct connection is set to boost Morocco’s appeal as a tourist destination while opening new opportunities for trade and economic cooperation with China.

“This route is part of RAM’s development plan agreed upon with the government in July 2023. It follows other recently introduced international destinations, including Toronto and São Paulo,” RAM noted.
