Rabat – The draw for the Champions League as well as the Confederation Cup quarter finals will take place in Doha, Qatar, on February 20, announced the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Both AS FAR and RS Berkane are eager to make their nation proud.
Morocco will have two teams in the competitions. AS FAR, the Royal Army club, has made it to the Champions League quarter-finals after 18 years when they lost to l’Étoile du Sahel of Tunisia.
RS Berkane, on the other hand, aims to go all the way in the Confederation Cup and carve its name as the competition’s specialist in recent years, after they won it twice in 2020 and 2020, and were runner-up in 2019.
The draw will be split into two parts. The Confederation Cup draw, featuring RS Berkane, will take place at 3 p.m. Moroccan time, followed by the Champions League draw at 4 p.m. , where AS FAR will learn their fate.
Fans can watch the draw live on BeIn Sports news.
AS FAR and RS Berkane will face stiff competition from some of Africa’s top clubs. Defending Champions League winners Al Ahly SC of Egypt and Confederation Cup holders Zamalek SC are among the heavyweights in the draw. Other strong teams include South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and Tunisia’s Esperance Sportive de Tunis.
The quarter-finals will be played over two legs in early April 2025. AS FAR’s Champions League matches are set for April 1 and 8, while RS Berkane’s Confederation Cup games will take place on April 2 and 9. Both teams will need to bring their A-game to secure a spot in the semi-finals.
