Rabat — Achraf Hakimi was left out of PSG’s starting XI for the second time in a row, just days before a crucial Champions League game. The Moroccan right-back was benched for the Coupe de France game against Le Mans and again against AS Monaco in Ligue 1.
Luis Enrique insists there is no reason to panic. The PSG boss explained: “He was unable to train properly on Thursday. He is a key player for us, and I won’t take any risks with him.”
The 26-year-old Atlas Lion has already played 16 league games this season and chalked up two goals and five assists. With a crucial European match against Brest just around the corner, Enrique seems to be keeping his world-class defender fresh.

Hakimi only just signed a new long-term deal last Friday, keeping him at PSG until 2029.
“I’m very happy to be continuing my stay with Paris Saint-Germain,” said Hakimi in a press statement. “I’d like to thank the club’s president, sporting director and coach, who have all made this possible. I can’t wait to keep contributing to its history.”
Hakimi joined PSG in 2021 having played for Real Madrid, Dortmund, and Inter Milan. He has helped the French giants win multiple league titles and domestic cups, while also leading Morocco to a historic World Cup semi-final in 2022, and win a bronze medal during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
