Rabat – Morocco international Achraf Hakimi has returned to Paris Saint-Germain’s squad for Saturday’s Ligue 1 match against Le Mans after recovering from the thigh injury that disrupted his recent weeks.
Hakimi is included among the players available to Luis Enrique for the Matchday 6 fixture at the Parc des Princes, scheduled to kick off at 8:45 p.m. local time, or 6:45 p.m. GMT.
Hakimi was forced off after 39 minutes in that match before PSG announced that he would undergo treatment.
The club subsequently reported that the Moroccan had returned to individual work on the pitch as part of his recovery program.
Hakimi managed carefully during Morocco duty
Hakimi still joined Morocco for the recent international window while working his way back to full fitness.
The Atlas Lions captain returned to action during the 2-0 AFCON qualifying victory over Lesotho on September 29, playing the final 22 minutes in Bloemfontein.
He was then named in the matchday squad but did not feature in Morocco’s 1-1 friendly draw with Mali in Tangier on October 4, allowing him to avoid additional physical strain before returning to Paris.
Hakimi’s inclusion against Le Mans indicates that he has now progressed sufficiently in his recovery to be considered for club action again, although it remains to be seen whether Luis Enrique will immediately return him to the starting lineup.
PSG resume Ligue 1 competition after a lengthy international break, having beaten Marseille 2-1 in their most recent league outing on September 20.
Saturday’s match will also precede a major Champions League test for the French champions, who travel to face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, October 14.
With that European fixture approaching, Hakimi’s return gives Luis Enrique another important option as PSG enter a demanding run of matches.
