Rabat – Morocco’s Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, held a phone call today to discuss bilateral relations, opportunities to strengthen cooperation, and regional developments in the Middle East.
The two officials reviewed ways to advance shared interests and reinforce cooperation between the two countries, while exchanging views on regional developments and efforts to promote security and stability in the Middle East.
The talks come amid longstanding relations between Rabat and Abu Dhabi, which have expanded across political, economic, trade, and investment sectors.
In December 2023, King Mohammed VI and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan signed a declaration to establish an enhanced partnership focused on economic development, investment, and closer cooperation.
The agreement also paved the way for 12 memorandums of understanding covering several strategic sectors, including infrastructure, tourism, energy, and agriculture.
The two countries have also sought to expand investment and trade ties. The UAE has emerged as a major Arab investor in Morocco, with cooperation spanning infrastructure, industry, renewable energy, and tourism.
At the diplomatic level, King Mohammed VI and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed have maintained regular contact on bilateral relations and regional issues.
Their discussions have included developments in the Middle East and the implications of regional tensions for security and economic stability.
The latest call between Bourita and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed reflects continued diplomatic coordination as Morocco and the UAE seek to deepen their strategic partnership and address shared regional concerns.
