Rabat – Moroccan midfielder Ismael Saibari was forced to leave Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund in the 29th minute after appearing to suffer a knee injury.
Saibari went down inside Dortmund’s penalty area following a challenge with goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. The Moroccan international had just missed a golden opportunity before remaining on the ground as a result of the incident.
The 24-year-old was unable to put weight on his leg and required assistance from Bayern’s medical staff before making his way toward the dressing room.
Sky Sports analyst and former Germany international Lothar Matthäus commented on the incident, stressing that it would be inappropriate to make a remote diagnosis.
However, Matthäus noted that the position of Saibari’s knee during the incident could indicate a potentially serious injury.
Saibari’s injury comes as another concern for the Moroccan national team, with injuries to Moroccan internationals continuing to raise concerns ahead of upcoming international commitments.
The full extent of the injury remains unclear, with further medical examinations expected to determine the nature and severity of the damage.
